Improvisational Acting Classes

Classes for 1st-12th Grades. These classes are about having fun! The IMPROV EFFECT instructor will use theatre games and skill building exercises to teach kids the basics of improvisation. Students will be encouraged to use their imaginations as they learn to create characters, build scenes and invent whole worlds without ever using a prop or a costume. Students will also practice teamwork, storytelling and listening skills to help them work as an ensemble and learn the discipline of performance. Young Actors Theatre is Theatre Jacksonville’s class offering for children ages 6-17. Twelve-week sessions are offered in the spring and fall, held once a week for one hour per class, and split into age-appropriate grouping. At the end of each class offering, a showcase performance is held, where students, acting and vocal, perform pieces they have been working on throughout the session.
Student Night Performances – Mainstage Production Study Guides, & Student Rush Tickets. For each one of our mainstage productions we offer local middle, high school, and college students the opportunity to attend the show’s final dress rehearsal for the cost of $2.00 per student. In addition, the theatre offers area students $10.00 student “rush tickets” on Thursday and Sunday performances of each of our mainstage productions.
